Rockin' UVU

So Last night I got to go to a concert at UVU. The Bravery, Story of the Year, The Brobecks, Ludo, and Josephine Connection played. It was quite a show. It seemed to get progressively louder. Not sure if was the bands or my ears. Anyway the first band that played while we were coming in was Josephine Connection, they were ok. I could understand or hear any thing they sang. Next up was Ludo. I thought these guys were good. I had never heard of them before so it was nice to hear something new and like it.

After those two bands the main show started off with the Brobecks. They are a Utah local band and they have a good sound. I only cared for one song. Supposedly they are working on getting their CD and hopefully going to get signed. Story of the Year followed them. Wow, these guys have a lot of energy. They were all over the place. It was cool to see wireless equipment to let them move around the stage so much. At one point two of the guitar players did a flip off the drum stage which was entertaining. I really dug two of there songs. A new one called Wake Up which will be on their new CD coming out in two weeks.

In between each band they had to setup for the next band so there was a little downtime. But x96 was there and they had some prize give aways. Someone won a car from Ken Garff. And a few other people won scholarships to help celebrate UVU.

The last and final band was The Bravery. I was fairly familiar with this band has I have heard most of there songs from the first album and a few from their newer album. My favorites of theirs was Believe, Honest Mistake, and Just want Love. Overall it was an entertaining show and it was free which made it even better.

Vegas Trip Part 3 - The Last Part

My father, my buddy Jym, and I went to the Bodies Exhibit at the Tropicana. For those that haven't heard of it here is a little quote from their site.

It was very interesting and I learned a lot. Almost a sensory overload.


We had dinner in the Rain Forest Cafe and saw the Lion Den. We were a little wore out from a lot of walking and stuff, but it was good food.

After dinner we went and saw "Ka", oh my goodness what a fantastic show. This show was very good from performances to costumes and the stage was a character in it self. The stage had moving platforms and they moved in all kinds of different angles letting the performers do all kinds of crazy things. This show was well worth the ticket price.

Vegas Trip Part 2

Saturday morning we went to the Mirage and had some brunch. They had many foods to choose from and they were all tastey. I started off with some breakfast. I had an omelet, pancakes, and pizza. Then moved into lunch with some crab legs, chinese, and prime rib.

We then did some walking. I mean a lot of walking along the strip. One stop we made was to the Coke store. Their we saw all the many coke products as well as try Coke drinks from all the world. Some of those were good and some were not so yummy. I loved the coke icee.

Another stop we made was to the M & M store. Four floors of M & M stuff. We saw a little 3D movie. It was ok. Kids might find it more entertaining. It looked like they tried to be a startours kind of thing.

Vegas Trip Part 1

So this last weekend I went down to Las Vegas with some friends and met my parents down there as well. We stayed in old downtown Vegas. In a hotel called the Plaza. I don't recommend it at all. Unless you are looking for cheap and don't care about your room or service much. To say the least this hotel has been marked off my list. The first night we went and checked out Fremont Street. It has a lot of old time casinos and what not. There were a lot of performers and vendors.

One of the performing acts that I thought was kind of cool was the Thunder dome. It was a dome where guys rode motorcycles around in. It was cool to see them go spinning around in the dome, but the most impressive part was when all 3 of them rode in the dome at the same time. I thought to my self I bet that took a lot of practice and a mistake would hurt.


Along the whole Fremont street the was an LED roof. The was millions of LEDs. They had a show on it every once in a while. That was quite impressive.

I want to try this.

A new summer game.

So I usually don't get too excited over video games, but this one has me somewhat excited for this summer. http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/ One of of the things I really like about this game is the style and design. I love the cartoon look. I know I am a big dorky kid but I love it. The next thing that interest me about this game is that it is free. They are using a advert model where the ads our on their website and not actually in the game. Then I guess they will also have things to buy for your character but not give you a weapon advantage. I like this quote: "The game has a "cartoon-feel" and has been made simpler to play, with more emphasis on participation and fun than skill and strategy. " I am a big fan of fun. One way they will do this is only pair you up against people with the same ranking so you have more fun and aren't always getting slaughtered. So come this summer everyone can give this a try.

Well this is just another sketch I turned into a vector image in flash. It has nothing to do with Monday. Today starts a new week. Hopefully it will be a good one. I hope to get some good exercise in this week. I only lost 1 pound last week and I would like to lose more than that this week. I was sick the previous week but luckily it didn't hurt me to much. Not sure what else I got going this week. My buddy Jared has a birthday this week so we will probably go to lunch for that. I hope you all have a great Monday.

Spiderwick

Yesterday I felt a lot better so I went out and watched Spiderwick. I had heard of the books but never did get a chance to read them. But I have to say I enjoyed the movie a lot. I will be sure to add this one to my collection. My only concern is that is is a children's book and it has these scary goblins and orcs. So for some kids I think it might be a little scary. The story was good and the visuals where excellent. I totally recommend this one, but just be warned it might be scarey for the young ones.

Re-Learning Flash and having fun

So I decided to get back into flash. I used this sketch from one of my favorite artists Scott Johnson. It was fun recreating this image and coloring it in Flash. I hope to do more and also I am working on my own little webcomic just for fun. I will share more of that later.

Very Unfortunate

Today my video iPod broke. It is most unfortunate, as I enjoyed it so. It was my loyal companion as I worked out at the gym. Somedays I didnt want to work out when I forgot it. My music and ipod have made workouts much more enjoyable.

So now my dilema, do I buy a new one or repair this one? On one side if I repair it it will most likely need a harddrive replacement. And that will cost $100-200. If I bought a new one, I could get a nano which is 180ish. Though the screen is smaller and it doesnt hold as much. So for now I am music less during work outs. Very unfortunate indeed.

My new water bottle.

This is my new Nalgene water bottle. It is suppose to be odor and stain resistant. It is also resistant to some extreme temperatures. Anyway I got two of these to help me make sure I am getting my 8 cups of water a day. I drink one at work and then one at home and so far I am doing really good at getting my 8 cups of water a day.

On another note, Mr. Plant isn't doing to well. I have been diligent in watering him, but I am not sure if he is getting enough sun or if the heating in the building is hurting him. If he doesn't survive I may have to go with a fake plant. They are harder to kill.

3 Day Weekend

I had monday off this week. Which makes it a nice 4 day work week. Anyway last week Friday I weighed in for the www.biggestofficeloser.com site and I lost over 9 pounds. That was exciting as I went back under 300 pounds. This 3 day weekend threw things off a littel but I should be doing good.

On sunday I got called in to see a member of the Stake Council and he aked me to serve as an Assitant Ward Clerk in my ward. I think I can handle it and I will do my best.

So now this week I excersise, eat right and work hard. I hope you all have a good week.

Mr. Plant

My new friend, Mr. Plant. A friend gave me info about a coupon that gives you $10 bucks off a houseplant at Lowes. So I got this one. It was nine something so it ended up being free. If anyone is interested in getting a free plant from Lowes let me know and I will get you the coupon info. It is good till Jan 31st.

A new week.

Ok so I was trying to think of something new to post here. The only thing I could think of at the moment is that we started Round 2 over at www.biggestofficeloser.com I am excited for this round as it will be 4 months instead of 3 and I have a little more determination to do even better. I lost over 30 lbs in the first round. I hope to loose over 50 lbs in the next round. I am hitting the gym this week everyday after work and trying to eat the best that I can. I just need to work on overcoming temptations.

Re-living the past.

So I came up to Rexburg to visit family this weekend. I came up with some friends who I went to School with here at Ricks, I mean BYU-Idaho. Anyway Today I went to dinner with these friends and my Parents. We went to Big Judd's. I had only been there once before, 11 or so years ago. Anyway as you can see in the picture why they call it Big Judd's. They have a challenge where if you eat the special you get your picture on the wall. you have to eat a crazy amount of food. And having your face on the wall for overeating probably is a little silly. :) Oh wait I am silly. Anyway I was only able to eat the burger. And boy was that enough.

Root Canal Fun!

Well I have had and interesting couple weeks. Last week I had a really bad sore tooth and had to have a root canal. Oh it feels so much better. Today I had a filling put on it to finish that ordeal. And to top it off today I have being feeling a little sick in the stomach. I am feeling a lot better now but the this morning wasn't fun.

It has also snowed and rained quite a bit here in the Utah Valley. It sure has gotten colder. It was Saturday that i got to do a little snowball throwing action and that was fun. I also go to see a few movies. I saw Fred Claus with my parents. It was a decent Christmas movie with the feel good ending. I also saw MR. MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM with my parents. That was a fun magical story. It had a sad part, but ended on a happy note. I thought it was really good for a rated G Movie.

I went last week with some really good friends and Saw the Golden Compass and Dan in Real Life. Ok first the Golden Compass would have been better had I not read the book. I really enjoyed the book. The movie changed a lot of stuff from the way the book did it. I understand they have to be able to fit a lot of stuff in a short time for a movie but readjusting the ways things happened and leaving out things was just a bummer for me. The polar bears were really cool though. Dan in Real Life was a really good movie. It stars Steve Carrel, the guy from the office and Evan Almighty. Anyway he is a widower raising his 3 daughters and meets a woman. He later finds out she is dating his brother. So craziness ensues. This movie is funny, though the funny doesn't over do it. Anyway I recommend this movie.

This weekend I hope to see I Am Legend, the new Will Smith movie. This movie intrigues me and I am excited to see if it is a good story.

BYU vs TCU

BYU won on Thursday against TCU. The end got a little exciting when TCU scored and tried to close in on BYU's lead. We went with some of our Indian co-workers, this was ther first time attend an american football game. It was goodtimes.

Work, Work-out, and a little play

Well I have kept some what busy after work by going to the gym. I am now playing racquet ball 3 times a week. It is good exercise. Then on the days I don't play racquet ball I work out on the Elipse machines. Then when I am not working out I find time to take a break and enjoy some TV or computer games. The other day I had a blast visiting with some friends and playing a little Tezas Holden and Boggle. I stink at Boggle. I need to leran some new words.

A new first for me.

Well yesterday I went to the dentist to get 2 crowns, but one was so bad I had to have a root canal. This is the first and hope wont have to have another one of those. It didn't really hurt except in my pocket book. But it needed to be taken care of. It also is quite the process to do a root canal, not a quik proceedure that id for sure.

Something to write as I wait.

I am waiting to go to lunch. Co-workers are busy and a place hasn't been decided. At one time I thought about writing a webpage that would help you make a lunch place decision. Then I did a little research on The Google and saw that some other people have already done something like that. One place has a wheel that you spin to decide where to go. It was limited on choices. I think that one was commerically created. Then I found another one that had a client and server side, but it was a little more complex than I was interested in. So now I am back to the idea of creating my own.

I think I would have groups and then assign people to those groups. Then when each memeber of the group can rate the many places they like to eat or don't like to eat. Then say if the group 1 consists of me and one other then the chocies would be organized to that group and so forth. The ratings would adjust on group size. The database will also keep track of visits to certain places to limit repeats unless it is a desired repeat.

So how do you decide where to go to lunch?

Wii Fit Update

Well it looks like the Wii Fit will only be $69.99 which is nice. Only a little more than the cost of another game. It also appears it is coming out in Jan 08. Hopefully they get it out for christmas instead. You can see more about it here: GameStop

Fireworks from Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day

i hope everyone had a good pioneer day. I went over to some friends house and had BBQ and Fireworks and a little Wii. It was goodtimes. They had gotten some not so legal fireworks and those were neat to see. Though I think a neighbor didnt like them so much. The cops came by later after we had already finished.

It was really nice outside as well. It had not been that cool in a long time. It was very enjoyable.

I went to the dentist the other day and found out a lot of bad stuff. I hate that, wish I had dental insurance in past and present and I would have caught or paid more attention sooner. Anyway I have periodontitis. I have to have 2 special cleanings and take a lot better care of my teeth. I haven't been doing a good enough job. So now I have one more thing to work on. The good part is that I can help my teeth and gums get better. And I will have a little more mouth bling.(gold crowns)

Well last week I battled with Strep Throat. Went to the doctors on friday and got the fix. I feel tons better.

Week of the 4th Part-2

This was the Demolition Derby at the Madison Fairgrounds in Rexburg. It was nice to only have to walk across the street to get there. It was a fun derby till the end. 4 cars got stuck in the mud. And that was the grand finally. I wanted to start a boring chant. :) Anyway it was total redneck fun. Oh and the best part in the last picture, a bunch of kids chasing a pig to get the money off it's back. To be a kid again.

Week of the 4th Part-1

I spent the week in Rexburg, Idaho. Had my family there which was nice. It has been many years since we had all been together on the 4th of July. We hung out, played a lot of Wii, watched fireworks, and went to a demolition derby.

Today I turn

So yesterday I got a flat tire and my cell phone stopped working. So today I celebrate my 34th birthday. Next year is the big 35. I should get a pinata for that one.

As I look back at my past years, I see that I have learned a lot and grown a lot (working on that part :-) ) I have had a lot of great experiances with Family and friends. And hope to have many more.

My roommates are taking me to Red Robin for dinner tonight. I like the royal red robin burger. my favorite.

Well I am off to get my phone fixed.

Movies

I saw 3 movies on Saturday June 17th. I saw FF4 the Silver Ironboarder. It was on ok for me. It felt a lot like the first. I was hoping it would be a lot better than the first. Why are super heroes so whiny and can never get along with their friends?

The second movie I saw was Surf's Up. This was actually really good. It was just a fun movie. The chicken was funny.

The thrid movie I saw was Ratatouille. Gotta love sneak previews. I want to see this again. From what I saw the childern around me couldnt stay interested. So young kids my not like this. There was a lot of stuff that I could see that kids wouldn't understand. This another good movie from Pixar. The short was great as well. I recommend this to all. Just be warned small childern may lose interest.

Wii would like to play.

So I was able to get myself a Nintendo Wii this past weekend. Had to get to Target before they opened at 8am. I got there at 7:30, but found out people had been waiting there since 5am. Luckily they had 32 units and only 23 people were in front of me. So I got my Wii and an extra controler. This is one thing that bugs me that game systems come with one controller. I enjoy playing with friends more than I do by myself. But I guess there are people out there that play alone. Anyway I know it is just another money making tactic and of course I don't have much choice if I want another controller. Ok So I have to say that I really enjoy playing Wii sports. I tppk my Wii over to my friends in Lehi and we had a great time bowling, tennis and the other games. I have had heard that all ages have enjoyed playing Wii sports and I got to see it first hand. We had the kids and adluts playing and having a great time. Sometimes it was more fun just to watch the people playing. So if you want to play sometime let me know, I am up for a Wii party.
