Recently I have been thinking back to some of my past geeky experiences. I wrote them down and thought it would be fun to share them. I am sure we all have had geeky moments. Here are some of mine. I hope to share more in the future. Enjoy.
Back in 1987, I was in junior high school computer club. We had Apple IIe computers. We would always be programming on them and write little menus for our disks. At the time we thought it was awesome. This was about the time I got into Ultima. When I couldn't play it at school I would go to the public library and checkout time on their computer to play it. Another cool thing about computer club was that we had a turtle robot and used Logo language to program it. We would make it do all kinds of crazy patterns. We also took it to a local state college and competed against other computer clubs. Junior high was a great time for my interest in computers. I even did my final paper in social studies on the history of computers. Good times, geek times!
One of my more geeky moments was when a buddy and I wanted a song from Star Trek 4 the Voyage Home. The song was the punk song that was played on the bus while Spock and Kirk were riding it. Spock ends up giving the punker the Vulcan pinch. Anyway we did some research on the internet and found the name of the song and the band. But we could not find it anywhere for download or purchase. Somehow we found the lead singer and called him. He was very friendly and nice to talk with. Turns out he sang the song and also was the punker on the bus in the movie. Anyway he told us the song was owned by Paramount and not available anywhere. Though we didn't get the song it was fun geeky experience.

Happy Newest Year
Down in California for a couple days. nothing but work. But hopefully a little fun before I go home on Saturday. I eat to much when I come down here. I have had fish tacos, Patrami dip sandwich, chili cheese fries, and Philly cheese steak sandwich. The weather has been really nice. It has been around the 70s. Sure beats the low 20s in Utah.
Saturday if we have time my co-worker and I are going to try and go to Universal Studios. I havent been in a long time so that should be fun. I will try and tweet about it and blog when I can.

Pizza Pie Cafe

I ate here today for lunch and have to say it was good. This is a new place that opened up in the old Tony Roma's building. It is buffet style pizza, salad, and pasta. Everything was tasty. It had a clean atmosphere and never a shortage of different kinds of pizza. My favorite was the Buffalo Chicken pizza. The Oreo dessert pizza was really good also. I totally recommend this place if your down for some buffet pizza.

A chat I had today with a friend.
Kevin: I dreamed last night that I found out you were a murderer and since I knew you I was given a gun by the authorities to kill you with.
Scott: lol, bring it
we can have a shoot out
Kevin: I shot you twice but it didn't seem to do anything and you went over to your computer and put on facebook that you had been shot twice.
Scott: that's funny
Kevin: I then shot you four more times (I only had 6 shots) and you shot me twice. The bullets didn't actually go in all they way. They were like cartoon bullets.
Weird stuff
Scott: indeed
Kevin: I went on to other dreams but I always had those two bullets sticking out of me for the rest of the time.
Scott: to funny. did you eat something or watching domething werid before bed?
Kevin: I had some chinese food.
Maybe that was it.
Scott: must have had MSG
Kevin: =)

WHY MEN ARE NEVER DEPRESSED
A friend sent this to me and I wanted to share so here it is.
Men are just happier people . . .
What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don’t have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work – more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $3500 – Tux rental $75. People never stare at your chest when you’re talking to them. New shoes don’t cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time.
0A
Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $3.99 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.
You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes – one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can ‘do’ your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a moustache.
You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24th in 25 minutes.
No wonder men are happier!!

New Order - Blue Monday '88
One of my all-time favorite band and song. I remember hearing this song when I was in Junior High. It lead to my interest in a lot of New Wave / Punk / Alternative bands. Brings back some good memories. And hey it's Monday.

Rainy Projects

Well I this last weekend I was going to work in my backyard and get rid of weeds and whatnot. But for the last several Saturdays that I wante dto work in the backyard it has rained. So instead I worked in my upstairs bathroom. For the longest time it has been driving me crazy that there was carpet in my bathroom. It is a pain to clean. So I finally did something about it. It tooks about six hours with a few breaks in there to rip out my carpet and put in some tiles. It turned out pretty good. I have a few things to finish and fix but overall it turned out great and I am happy with it. Maybe this saturday I will get to the backyard.

It was a nice visit. i played a lot with the kids, they are a lot of fun. After i left there i stopped by some Friends in Lehi and had a nice visit with them. Played with even more kids. By the end of the day I was wore out. So I came straight home and went to bed and had a nice long sleep. The End.

Somewhat Busy Good Friday
Well since I had the day off today I decided to sleep in. Staying up late helped that. But I didn't intend to sleep in till 11am. By the time I got up and ready it was almost noon. So I had a little shopping to do as my twin nephew's birthday is next week. So since Kmart was close I decided to look there. Boy was that a mistake and a waste of time. I am always amazed that Kmart is able to survive. So I decided to travel a little farther. I ended up going to the Springville Wal-mart. While on the way on the Freeway there was construction and the off-ramp was packed, so much that I didn't get in line fast enough and ended up going to Spanish fork and back. Though I almost think that was faster than getting in that off-ramp line. Anyway I got my shopping done and head to the UPS store in Provo to ship my nephew's gifts as well as a computer for my parents. Next on my list was to go work on a new computer and get it ready for use at my church building. Got it to a good point, have to do some more with Church tech support but can't do that till next week.
During all this I went and saw Monsters vs Aliens. I thought it was fun and entertaining. They story was fun and not to crazy. Though i had fun with it, it probably isn't one that i would buy for re-watchability.
To close the night I just took it easy and watched some TV. Watched the season finale of Terminator. I am a little bummed as it seems it may be the series Finale. I hope not but who knows it is Fox.
